Global Developmental Delays (GDD)

“Developmental delay is the term used when a young child is slower to reach milestones than other children. Delay may occur in the way a child moves, communicates, thinks and learns, or behaves with others” (Raising Children Network Australia, 2013).

During a speech and language assessment a developmental delay can be detected. If it is suspected that a child might have a Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Sally-Ann may refer the child to a psychologist and/or paediatrician for further investigation.
